Audio Sidechain
Normally an effect plugin processes a single (stereo or mono) audio signal. But by using a side-chain input it is possible to apply processing to a signal based on the level of another signal. In plug-in devices that support sidechaining, you can access the sidechain parameters on the left side of the device, so sending audio to a plugin in Ableton is straightforward.
Some of our plugins also accept MIDI input, for information about routing MIDI please look here.
Steps
- Open the plugin window for the Devious Machines product you would like to route to and ensure that it is in a mode that receives audio. This is different for each product so please refer to the manual if you are unsure.
- In the FX rack, you can select the sidechain on the plugin using the dropdown highlighted below. This will only be available if the plugin accepts a sidechain input.
- Choose the signal you would like to pass to the plugin from the drop down. Then the signal information will be received by the plugin.
