Audio Sidechain
Normally an effect plugin processes a single (stereo or mono) audio signal. But by using a side-chain input it is possible to apply processing to a signal based on the level of another signal.
Some of our plugins also accept MIDI input, for information about routing MIDI please look here.
Steps
- Open the plugin window for the Devious Machines product you would like to route to and ensure that it is in a mode that receives audio. This is different for each product so please refer to the manual if you are unsure.
- You will need to route the sidechain audio to the track containing a Devious Machines plugin. Select the track you would like to route. You can see the track become highlighted in green.
- SHIFT+Click on the arrow at the bottom of the track you are routing to, then turn up the dial that appears. You should have something that looks like this.
- Steps 1 and 2 should allow audio to be routed to the plugin. However, follow these steps if you are still having troubles. Open the UI of the plugin you are routing to.
- Click the cog in the top left of the plugin window.
- Change to the plugin wrapper settings and find the processing tab. Under 'Connections' you will find '2. Sidechain L / Sidechain R', use the menu to change the number to 1.
